Active Server Pages is Microsoft's solution to server-side scripting for the internet. ASP uses primarily VB Script for it's syntax, although it also allows for Javascript.
With ASP, you can create dynamic database driven web sites, track user sessions, send/retrieve mail, and much more. Keep in mind that this is a Microsoft product, so you will have to use special software (Chilisoft) to run it on Linux. A much better server-side solution for Linux is PHP.
